A Message to New Providence Residents
Recently the State of New Jersey notified all municipalities of their state aid figures for the 2008-2009 fiscal years. In New Providence, we learned that our state aid would be reduced by $172,000.

ATTENTION SENIORS & SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY RECIPIENTS
The State of NJ has again approved funding for the Property Tax Reimbursement Program (a.k.a. property tax freeze program). This program was first made available in 1998. Homeowners currently enrolled in this program should have begun receiving their 2007 booklets in the mail from the State.

Local Emergency Management Committee Seeks Members
We are extending an invitation to community members who may have an interest in becoming part of the support team for the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEPC). New Providence Community Bulletin Board Requests
Requests for messages on the Community Bulletin Board are accepted for nonprofit community organizations advertising events of community interest. Requests for commercial, personal, political or religious messages will be declined. The Community Bulletin Board was a gift of the New Providence Lions Club. The New Providence Recreation Department is seeking Group Fitness Instructor(s) to teach classes in the Municipal Center and the Senior Citizens Center. Dedicate a Tree Downtown
The Borough of New Providence will be planting trees in the downtown business district over the next few months finalizing the downtown improvement project. Residents and business owners are invited to purchase a tree and have an engraved brick installed next to their tree. Commemorative or dedicated trees are available for a variety of reasons, including: Births and Birthdays, Graduations, New Jobs, Retirements, Engagements, Weddings or Anniversaries or Memorials.

Stickers for recycling containers--one for bottles and cans, one for paper--are available for free at the Municipal Center. They can be picked up at any service window.

Parking Cards Available
The Borough Clerk's office sells "Smart Cards" in increments of $100.00. These cards are used at the parking pay box at Murray Hill Train Station, for out-of-towners. Parking is $5.00 a day.
