Lieutenant Theresa Gazaway
Lieutenant Gazaway began her career in law enforcement after being accepted to the Alternate Route Program at the John H. Stamler Police Academy in July 1995. She was hired and began her career with the New Providence Police in December 1995. Her assignments have included Traffic Safety Officer, Bicycle Officer, Senior Citizen Liaison, Investigator and Community Services Bureau Supervisor. Sergeant Gazaway was promoted to Sergeant in March 2006 and has served as the Accreditation Manager for the department. She was promoted to Lieutenant in July 2010.
Lieutenant Gazaway graduated from Raritan Valley Community College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Lieutenant Gazaway is a Certified Public Manager; NJ State Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Executive and has a certificate in Public Safety Liability Mitigation from Stockton College. She has served as the President of The Union County DARE Officer’s Association and Vice President of the New Providence P.B.A., Local #132. Lieutenant Gazaway is a staff instructor at the John H. Stamler Police Academy She is also is a NJSACOP Accreditation Assessor.
