The mission of the New Providence Recreation Department is to provide affordable programs that enhance and enrich the lives of New Providence residents of all ages. Our programs strive to:

* Encourage participation by all residents in a safe and positive environment
* Be instructional and developmental in nature
* Promote health and fitness
* Build a strong sense of community
* Provide enjoyment for participants, volunteers and families.

*Games and Practices Cancelled*
All baseball and softball games and practices are cancelled for tonight, Friday, May 9, and tomorrow Saturday, May 10, due to wet fields.

NEW PROVIDENCE 5K RACE - MAY 10, 2008 - RAIN OR SHINE
On Saturday, May 10, a 1 MILE FUN-RUN, 5K RUN / WALK, and SPROUT SPRINTS will be held at New Providence High School, 35 Pioneer Drive. Download the flyer below for registration information, cost, and directions.

"DEAR EDWINA JUNIOR" - May 9 & 10, 2008
"Dear Edwina Junior," a fun-filled musical for all ages, is being performed by Recreation's Musical Theater Workshop class. Performances are Friday, May 9th at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 10th at 1:00 p.m. on the Muncipal Center Stage. Admission is $3 per person or $10 per family.

NEW! BOCCE AT OAKWOOD PARK
Interested in a get-together over a game of Bocce Ball? Pick-up and league games for adults will be played once a month at the Oakwood Park bocce court on Sundays at 2:00 p.m. beginning May 18th. Please express your interest to or request information from the New Providence Recreation Department at 908-464-4430 or nprec@newprov.org.

MAY 16 KIDS' WORKSHOPS
On the Staff Development day in May, NP Recreation will be sponoring several workshops: Red Cross Babysitters Training, and two Mad Science classes, Mad Machines and Slimey Science and Smokey Ice.. As with all Recreation offerings, these classes are open only to New Providence residents or children who attend school in New Providence. See the flyer below for class descriptions.

FSTA - SUMMER TENNIS CAMPS
First Serve Tennis Academy will run one-week Kiddie Camps (ages 3-4) and Tennis Camps (ages 5-15) throughout the summer.

TENNIS COURTS - Membership 2008

MUSIC & ART STREET FESTIVAL - Sept 7, 2008
The New Providence Music & Art Festival will take place on Sunday, September 7 from 10AM-5PM along Springfield Avenue and South Street. This family-filled street festival will offer attractions for all!
