MUNICIPAL ENGINEER (FULL-TIME) – The Borough of New Providence is seeking a multi-talented Staff Engineer. The full-time position will manage the engineering division for a community of 3.6 square miles and population of 12,000. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Planning & Development. Responsibilities include Preparation of engineering documents for advertising and construction. This will include plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various capitol improvement projects (roadways, drainage, sewer, parks, athletic fields, etc.) Must be able to work on multiple design projects concurrently and manage small projects independently. Perform field inspections and assessments of infrastructure. Review of Planning & Zoning Board site plans/subdivisions and preparation of reports. B.S in Civil Engineering or related field. 5+ years of experience in Municipal Engineering or related field, PE license from NJ, with a Professional Land Surveyor License is preferred. Proficiency in Municipal Land Use Law and Public Contracts Law. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel and Word required as are strong interpersonal and written skills. You can be an important member of a successful team of individuals committed to the safety of school children in your community. School Crossing Guards work approximately 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during the regular school year at designated locations in the borough assisting elementary, middle and high school students.
