The Borough Council approved the final payments for the 2016 sidewalk program, where missing links of sidewalks were installed in 2016 and 2017. These included sidewalks on Pearl Street, Hawthorne Drive, South Street and Southgate Road. Sidewalks are also being installed in conjunction with the Central Avenue paving project. In addition, approximately 600 linear feet of other sidewalks were repaired around New Providence where sidewalks were cracked or raised due to root growth.
The capital improvement authorization ordinance that was introduced last night includes an additional $100,000.00 for sidewalk repairs in 2017. Over the summer of 2017, you can expect that additional sidewalk work will be completed. Click here for a list of areas where cracked/raised sidewalks will be repaired and replaced in 2017.
If you’re aware of other locations where sidewalks are in need of attention, please contact the borough via
