The New Providence DPW Maintenance staff monitors the pond at Oakwood Park and determines whether or not skating is permitted based upon the conditions of the ice.
When the conditions are right and the ice is thick enough, a sign will be posted by the parking lot indicating “Skating Today”. It normally takes a week to ten days of consecutive subfreezing temperatures to produce safe skating conditions.
The operating schedule is subject to change and may be modified throughout the season. Any changes to the standard operating schedule will be posted at www.newprov.org/recreation

**Holidays include New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day and Presidents Day. In addition, the Pond will operate under the Holiday Schedule between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
