In June, NJ American Water Company began replacing a water main on Springfield Avenue – between Central Avenue and Maple Street.
The work has been done during the overnight hours; Monday through Friday, starting at 8 PM and finishing by 5 AM each morning.
The work began on Springfield Avenue at Central Avenue and has continued east toward Maple Street. Currently, the work has been completed to the area of Jane Road. NJ American estimates they have approximately 3500 feet of water main pipe left to install. They also need to install the main under the Salt Brook Culvert – near 1350 Springfield, which is expected to take about a week and a half beginning in late September.
Once the project is completed, Springfield Avenue will be repaved from the center line to the curb on the side where the main is replaced. Also, each intersection will be repaved curb-to-curb.
Residents in the affected areas will receive a door tag approximately a week before the work is to commence. However, all residents should be aware of the project as there will undoubtedly be traffic delays and detours during this period.
