The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders would like to remind you of several free recycling events coming up in September:
Union County will host two Mobile Paper Shredding Events in September. The first will take place on Thursday, September 12th at the Linden Recycling Center, located at 2 Donaldson Place in Linden, and the second on Friday, September 20th at the Westfield Memorial Pool, located at 713 Cumberland Street in Westfield. All events will run from 9 am to 1 pm or until the truck(s) get filled and there is a limit of four (4) bags or boxes of confidential documents per car. Please DO NOT bring material that is already shredded.
Union County’s Scrap Metal Recycling program also continues in September. This month the first Thursday collection will be on Thursday, September 5th, and the third Saturday collection will be on Saturday, September 21st. There are two (2) locations in Union County for residents to drop off their metal for recycling. The first is at 151 Kenilworth Boulevard in Cranford; the second, at Rahway River Park off of St. Georges Avenue in Rahway. Both locations will be open from 9 am to 12 pm. Residents can drop off old appliances, microwaves, air conditioners, and metal lawn furniture to name a few.
