COVID Update – March 31, 2020

NP COVID-19 Update – Tuesday 3/31 6pm – 19 Cases

Today we have one new case in New Providence, however, our county and state numbers soared. Please stay the course, continue adhering to all safety protocols including sheltering in, no non-essential outings, and maintaining a minimum of 6 feet social distancing. The next few days are probably going to be nice out and tempting to be outdoors. It is ever so important not to gather, and to remain minimally 6 feet apart from each other. Wash hands often, and continue wiping down exposed surfaces. If we can get through the next few weeks, we will be through the worst of it and hopefully can return to normalcy. I am very proud of how the majority of our community has followed our protocols. I understand the frustration this crisis is causing many of us. Please be patient. We will get through this. Pioneer Strong!

Union County COVID-19 Test Center at Kean University has implemented a “telehealth” procedure for persons seeking a COVID-19 test. Union County residents, as well as all first responders and health workers working in the county regardless of residence, can report symptoms and schedule testing by calling (908) 373-5105. You will be connected to a nurse who will triage and assess symptoms over the phone. Appointments will be scheduled for patients that meet the Centers for Disease Control guidelines. Persons receiving an appointment can proceed to the Testing Center at their scheduled time. No other primary care doctor prescription is required. Please note that Union County residents who previously registered at the Testing Center and have already submitted a prescription may proceed as instructed. The Test Center is located at the Kean University Campus on Morris Avenue in Union Township. Regular weekday hours for the Test Center are Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm and Saturday from 9am-2pm. The Test Center is available on a drive-through basis only. Testing is free.
