NPCOVID UPDATES:

Update from Mayor Al Morgan

Thursday 5/28 7pm

We are happy to report no new cases and no new deaths today. It is another good day for us here in New Providence. Please continue to keep our lost, afflicted, and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Please also continue to keep a light in your window to help light up our nights in support, remembrance, and in solidarity in our fight against COVID-19. We are getting through this! We will continue to keep you updated as we receive confirmed information. Please continue to follow all safety protocols and social distancing.

We have a few Borough updates:

Plastic Bag and Styrofoam Recycling:

The DPW Recycling Center is accepting plastic bags and  packing styrofoam  during drop off days on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month 9am-1pm. The Recycling Center is open with the following restrictions:

  1. No one will be admitted to the DPW Facility without a mask.
  2. Social distancing will be enforced.
  3. DPW workers will not assist in removing recycling material from the vehicles 4. All vehicles will enter from the Park Place entrance and exit the driveway on Passaic Street.

July 3rd and Summer Concerts:

We are sad to report that the annual July 3rd Celebration and Summer Concert Series has been cancelled. The New Providence Business Community sponsors and organizes this annual event. The impact on New Providence businesses as a result of the coronavirus pandemic has been huge.  Many businesses are struggling to survive.  Others are focused on changing their business models and delivery methods to retain staff and customers within the current Executive Order guidelines.  All are trying to figure out how to safely reopen when restrictions allow, and have neither the resources to fund nor the time to execute these large events. Our local businesses are finding new and innovative ways to continue to serve our community. An updated listing of current business offerings, as well as a searchable online Business & Services directory can be found on the Business Community website, www.newprovbiz.com. Please support our local businesses and our community by shopping New Providence.
