4/28– Detective Nicholas Guerriero arrested Alisha Hancock, 31, of Newark for Theft by Deception, Identity Theft (Assumes False Identity), Identity Theft (Impersonating on an Application for Services), and Identity Theft (Wrongful Impersonating, Obtaining and Using Another’s Identification). The arrest stemmed from an investigation into multiple incidents of fraud that was reported by a resident of Mountain Ave. Ms. Hancock was processed and released pending a future court appearance.
5/8– A Primrose Drive resident reported that her vehicle was entered during the overnight hours from May 7th through May 8th and multiple personal items were taken. The vehicle was parked and unlocked. Area residents with exterior cameras or who may have seen anything suspicious are asked to reach out to Det. 5/11– Patrolman Gregory Miller arrested Jerniyah Maddox, 19, of Charleston, WV for Hindering Apprehension by Providing False Info, Possession of Marijuana 50g or Less, Possession of Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Dangers Substance in a Motor Vehicle. The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle stop on Central Av. Ms. Maddox was processed and released pending future court appearances.
Residents are reminded that criminal activity has not ceased in the wake of COVID-19 and sheltering in place. There has been an uptick in reports of motor vehicle thefts and burglaries in New Providence and adjacent towns. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicle doors and take valuable inside their residences. Please do not leave key fobs inside your vehicle and remove and valet keys that may be in the gloveboxes.
