The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders would like to remind you of several free recycling events coming up this June:
Union County’s Scrap Metal Recycling program will start on Saturday June 20th. There are two (2) locations in Union County for residents to drop off their metal for recycling, one in Cranford and Rahway. The location of the Cranford drop off has been changed to Union County College, for the month of June only. Program is open from 9 am to 12 pm. Residents can drop off old appliances, microwaves, air conditioners, and metal lawn furniture to name a few.
Union County is also kicking off their Mobile Paper Shredding Events in June with a weekend of shredding! The events will be held on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28th at the Union County Vo Tech School located at 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains. Both events will run from 9 am to 1 pm or until the truck(s) get filled. Residents can bring up to four bags of confidential documents per vehicle for shredding. Please DO NOT bring material that is already shredded.
The next Household Hazardous Waste Program will be on Saturday, August 1st at the Union County Vo Tech School located at 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains. The event will be held from 9 am to 2pm. Items for drop off include old pesticides & herbicides, pool chemicals, gasoline, oil-based paints and deck stain. Latex Paint/Acrylic/Enamel (wall paint) is water-based and is NOT ACCEPTED. It should be dried out and discarded in with your regular garbage.
