Reminder – Union County Deer Management Program

The County of Union will conduct a deer management program in this park to prevent the destruction of native park vegetation, minimize damage to residential landscaping, and reduce deer-related motor vehicle accidents. Most parks will not be closed during hunting. Park users should stay on paths or trails. Pets should always be on leash. Some venison generated by this program will be distributed to the needy through New Jersey food banks.
In areas where there is bow hunting, carefully selected hunters will be stationed in elevated tree stands. Hunting will occur during daylight hours only. Any evidence of hunting being conducted on other dates or after dark should be reported immediately to Union County Police at 908-654-9800.
Winter Bow Hunting will occur Jan 1 through Feb 19th .
In the Watchung Reservation, hunting is on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays only.
Winter Bow will also be conducted Weekdays in Cedar Brook Park, Green Brook Park, Lenape Park, Ashbrook Reservation, Oak Ridge Park, Passaic River Park , Hawk Rise Sanctuary and Linden Municipal Landfill, Elizabeth River Parks, Nomahegan Park, Galloping Hill Golf Course, Hidden Valley and Rahway River Parks(Clark and Springfield), Westfield County and Municipal Properties
