Fishing Derby – Saturday, May 7, 8am – 11am, Oakwood Park:  Co-sponsored by New Providence P.B.A. Local #132 and New Providence Recreation, this family favorite event is one of the borough’s “signs of spring!”  Adults are welcome to assist, but contest participation is limited to children 15 years old and younger.  The cost is $7/child.  Registration opens on Friday, April 1, through CommunityPass.

Memorial Day Parade – Monday, May 30, 10:00am, Springfield Avenue:  The Parade will take place rain or shine!

Sharing Network 5K – Sunday, June 5:  NJ Sharing Network’s Annual 5K Celebration of Life brings together thousands of walkers, runners and volunteers to honor those who gave, pay tribute to those who received, offer hope to those who continue to wait and remember the lives lost while waiting.

National Night Out – Tuesday, August 2: Sponsored by New Providence PBA Local 132, this event is at 6pm.

5th Annual PBA Local 132 Car Show – Saturday, October 1, 8:00am, New Providence Community Pool Parking Lot:  New Providence PBA local 132 will be hosting its 5th Annual Car Show and the proceeds will be for our members good and welfare fund as well as supporting families of fallen officers.

Scarecrow Contest – October/November, Date TBD: Be a part of the Scarecrow Stroll through Downtown New Providence!  Create your own unique family-friendly scarecrow or a scarecrow representing your organization, sport, or business. It can be wild, funny, furry, silly, or ridiculous. Use your imagination!! FREE to enter but space is limited! This is your chance to express yourself, your organization, or business!

Green Day and FreeCycle Festival – Date TBD:  Vendors and informational displays regarding sustainability and recycling will be available in Centennial Park (time TBD).  In addition, Sustainable New Providence’s annual FreeCycle event, where members of the community can donate used (but working/usable) items that other people can take and reuse for free, will be at the American Legion Hall on Elkwood Avenue (time TBD).

Pumpkin Carving/Decorating Event- More details to come on this family-friendly event…

Street Fair –   The fair, sponsored by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and New Providence Businesses, will be held on Springfield Avenue, between South Street and Livingston Avenue.  The fair promises a day of fun for the entire family! The streets are filled with various exhibits, vendors, and activities. Children will have opportunities to visit the petting zoo and experience other fun activities, such as face painting and storytelling. Food vendors will sell refreshments and delicious food throughout the day. Local residents and visitors come to enjoy the food and entertainment. Businesses can participate in this event by serving as a sponsor or a vendor.

Downtown Trick-Or-Treating – Date TBD: Trick or Treat with local businesses will be held in downtown New Providence. Wear your costumes and look for the stores with an orange pumpkin in the window or on the door!  This event is Rain or Shine.

Holiday Walk, Friday – November 25, 5:00pm, Downtown New Providence: This family-friendly event, sponsored by the New Providence Business Community, will feature Santa’s arrival at Provident Bank on South Street and his parade through downtown with the NPHS Marching Band. There’ll be merchant activities and giveaways, along with fireworks! Come out to support our beloved merchants and enjoy the festivities and fireworks!  This event would not be possible without generous sponsors Braunschweiger Jewelers, Investors Bank, NP Downtown Improvement District, Peapack Private Wealth Management, and Provident Bank, and Your Kid’s Urgent Care.
