Easter Egg Hunt (Pre-K to 2nd grade): Sponsored by The Lions Club of New Providence, this annual event is Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Oakwood Park. The Easter Bunny arrives at 9:15am; the hunt is at 9:45am.

Senior Citizen Health Fair:  Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 from 8 AM to 11 AM at the DeCorso Community Center

Memorial Day Parade:  Monday, May 29, 2107 at 10:00am, Springfield Ave. from Central Ave. to Academy Street.

NJ Sharing Network 5K Race:  Sunday, June 4, 2017.  Race begins and ends at The Sharing Network, 691 Central Ave., New Providence.  Additional information can be found at

Independence Day Celebration:  On Friday, July 3, 2017, festivities will take place on South Street.  Fireworks launch at 9:30pm.

Summer Family Concerts:  Enjoy shows beginning at 6:30pm on Thursday nights in July at Centennial Park (Springfield Ave. and Academy St.).

National Night Out: Sponsored by New Providence PBA Local 132, this event is Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017 at Centennial Park (Springfield Ave. and Academy St.)

Farmers Market: The New Providence Farmer’s Market will run every Wednesday from June through October at the New Providence Presbyterian Church on Springfield Avenue – 1:00pm-6:00pm.

Trick-or-Treat Downtown: Wear your costume and visit stores with the orange pumpkin in the window. Date TBD.

Street Fair: Date TBD.  The fair, sponsored by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and New Providence Business, will be held on Springfield Avenue, between South Street and Livingston Avenue.

Downtown Christmas Walk: Kick of the Holiday on Friday, Nov. 24. Come watch Santa arrive in town with a parade led by the NPHS Pioneer Band and the NPFD. The fun begins at 4:30pm and Santa arrives at 6:00pm at Provident Bank on South Street.

NP Recreation Introduces Background Check Policy for Volunteer Coaches

NP Recreation coaches, assistant coaches and parent helpers are required to complete a Background Check. This program is mandatory and free of cost to volunteers. Please visit and click on COACHES INFO for more information.
