Union County has launched the “UC HERO” program in honor of our veterans. The initiative offers services through various county agencies, including the Office of Veterans’ Affairs, the Division on Aging, health and mental health referral services, job opportunities through the Workforce Innovation Business Center, and outreach in addition to partnering with local veteran groups in outreach efforts.
Their office is looking to honor women veterans in Union County for their outstanding contributions, both in the military and in their communities. We call these women veterans “SHEROS,” and they are seeking nominations from all Union County municipalities for a special award presentation.
If you would like to nominate a woman veteran for this award, please use the SHERO Nomination Form by clicking “Enable Editing” at the top of the form.
Please submit the veteran’s name, address and a brief summary of her military service and community accomplishments to the Union County Veterans Services Office by August 28th, 2020. Please send your nominations by email to our Veteran Service Coordinator, Janna Williams, at email@example.com or to our Veteran Service Representative, Kenneth Glick, at Kenneth.Glick@ucnj.org.
Three women will be chosen for an honorary presentation by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders at an event this fall. They hope to inform you of the date and place of the event in the near future, based on the latest COVID-19 virus guidelines and restrictions.
Please also see the Union County Office of Veteran Services for additional information.
